Job description

Project Engineer - Civils & Infrastructure (Defence)
Location: Reading (RG30)
Contract: 6-9 months
Rate: Circa 450- 500/day (Negotiable)

TRIbuild Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a key client for a Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major defence infrastructure programme in the Reading area. This is a critical construction project involving the development of new assembly and disassembly facilities, contributing to national security infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager and delivery team across a package of works relating to passive fire protection.
  • Provide technical guidance to site teams, interpreting drawings, specifications, and design intent.
  • Ensure that quality assurance processes are in place and adhered to across all works.
  • Assist with programme development and short-term planning using relevant scheduling tools.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities in line with programme requirements.
  • Promote a high standard of health and safety across the site, contributing to inspections and risk assessments.
  • Support progress reporting and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues in a timely and collaborative manner.
  • Contribute to effective client and stakeholder communication.
  • Person Specification:
  • 3-8 years of experience in a Project Engineer or Site Engineer role within the UK construction industry.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and regulations.
  • Proficient in technical drawings and familiar with project planning software (Primavera P6 desirable).
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • CSCS card holder.
  • SC clearance (or ability to obtain) is essential due to project nature.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with passive fire protection or fire-stopping systems.
  • Exposure to large-scale, complex infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of MOD or defence sector delivery environments.
