Job Description
Project Engineer Civils required to work on a major high-speed rail project across various locations along the South East Line of Route, including Midlands, Chipping Warden, and London.
Candidates must reside within a 1-hour commute to the relevant site. The contract duration is initially 6-12 months and is ongoing. The role is inside IR35.
The Project Engineer will manage the engineering aspects of Civils works across the section/area of the project, ensuring that design and construction activities comply with relevant standards.
They will project manage the standards and specifications of allocated design and construction contracts on behalf of the client. Responsibilities include ensuring all engineering activities meet programme requirements while maintaining safety, environmental responsibility, and quality, managing design and specialist consultants and contractors.
The role involves providing project management advice regarding all construction activities, managing design and/or construction elements to comply with current legislation, including CDM regulations, and reviewing design and construction activities.
Arrange audits of contractors to monitor safety, environmental, and quality standards in design, construction, testing, and commissioning, ensuring management systems are adequate.
Essential requirements include relevant experience in Civil engineering, involvement in construction and design projects across multiple disciplines, and a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Experience with NEC Contracts, major Rail/Infrastructure projects, and knowledge of quality assurance are required. An understanding of independent assessment arrangements, CDM, risk assessments, and environmental issues in engineering works is also necessary.
Project safety management experience is essential. Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status is desirable.
