Job description

To support the Business Development and Bids & Proposals teams with engineering enquiries, the Project Engineer (Bids) will lead associated engineering activities and liaise with Engineers in the Engineering Design department (and others as appropriate) to develop costed technical proposals for customers.

The Project Engineer (Bids) will assist with the Engineering Design department's response to various enquiries and the preparation of technical proposals for tendering purposes.

This will include:

  • Interface with the Business Development and Bids & Proposals departments to understand the engineering requirements of prospective work.
  • Production of concise and effective technical proposals in response to customer requests.
  • Review of customer requirements and production of necessary procurement specifications.
  • Coordination of resources to achieve the required engineering input.
  • Compiling the estimate of engineering effort required to execute the proposed contract.
  • Attending meetings with customers, including delivering technical presentations and participating in engineering and commercial discussions.
  • Development of standardised documentation packs for proposal use.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential/Required

  • Experience interfacing with multi-discipline teams.
  • Experience creating specification documents and liaising with suppliers.
  • A flair for problem solving and innovation, a flexible approach to work activities, and a track record of checking engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge and experience in using computer packages such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
