Description: Hoyle Tanner has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer in our Aviation Services Division. Become part of a team of airport design professionals that include Project Managers, Airport Engineers, Airport Planners, Construction Managers, and Construction Field Inspectors. This position can be based out of either our Manchester, NH, Portsmouth, NH, Chelmsford, MA, or Burlington, VT office and offers a hybrid remote work opportunity. The ideal candidate will contribute to a team delivering project designs for airports of various sizes in the New England region and Florida. Responsibilities include preparing calculations, layouts, estimates, and specifications under the supervision of Senior Engineers and Project Managers, as well as leading and guiding Junior Engineers and CADD teammates.

As a Project Engineer, you will:

  1. Play a key role in a multi-disciplinary team solving complex technical challenges.
  2. Complete assignments accurately and timely with minimal supervision.
  3. Understand project budgets, scope, development, and schedules.
  4. Provide updates and recommendations to maintain schedules and budgets.
  5. Foster understanding of the client’s organization and expectations.
  6. Share best practices to enhance team performance and efficiency.
  7. Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance.
  8. Lead small teams on moderately complex projects.
  9. Assist in proposal development.
  10. Mentor and coach entry-level and staff engineers, peers, and others.
  11. Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients and contractors.
  12. Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and public presentations.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have:

  • BSCE or ME degree
  • 4-10 years of relevant experience
  • Current PE license in NH, MA, or VT
  • Strong skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology/hydraulics
