Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Energy from Waste or similar heavy industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of steam turbines, generators, and pressure systems.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems and statutory inspections.

Project Engineer – Allington
Salary: £44,041 - £66,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Allington, Kent, ME16 0LE

As a Project Engineer at FCC Environment, you’ll play a vital role in delivering equipment and process upgrades, supporting plant maintenance strategy, and driving operational excellence at our Allington Energy from Waste (EfW) facility. You’ll lead the development, planning, installation, and commissioning of projects that increase plant reliability and performance.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week.

What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced engineering professional who thrives in a high-performance environment. You will have:
•A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Energy from Waste, Power, or similar heavy industries
• Strong project management skills, ideally with MS Project experience
• In-depth knowledge of steam turbines, generators, pressure systems, and NDT
• Experience with Maintenance Management Systems and statutory inspections
• Degree-level qualification (or extensive equivalent experience)
• IOSH or NEBOSH safety accreditation
• Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills
• A team player who can also deputise for senior team leaders when required

What will you be doing?
• Delivering capital projects from concept through to commissioning
• Managing contractors and overseeing project safety and performance
• Supporting plant outages, including planning and execution of work
• Developing the site’s Maintenance Management System
• Enhancing maintenance strategies to improve plant availability
• Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation
• Mentoring and supporting maintenance technicians and apprentices
• Driving improvements through root cause analysis and process development
