What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try.

You will work on our Southern Water Frameworks within our Environment Business, delivering schemes of varying sizes mainly to the Water Industry, across Treatment Waste and Water projects, involving Design and Build.

Ideally, you will be based in or around Hampshire / West Sussex and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the region.

The role requires proactive coordination of electrical and mechanical engineering packages across water and wastewater treatment projects. You will ensure scope delivery aligns with design, working with project management, construction, procurement, and the supply chain to develop and manage MEICA packages within budget and schedule. Extensive liaison with the engineering team, including providing technical support during the pre-target cost phase, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate mechanical/electrical technical solutions ensuring compliance with design and regulations.
  • Identify, plan, and coordinate engineering interfaces between packages and with existing assets, advising Project Managers/Tranche Managers.
  • Manage the execution of mechanical/electrical work packages, including procurement, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Provide technical assurance of supply chain engineering and coordinate with the engineering team.
  • Liaise with project teams, procurement, QS’s, and designers to ensure timely delivery of work packages.
  • Implement Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and targets.
  • Conduct safety inspections and promote safe working behaviors.
  • Ensure effective technical interfaces between design, construction, commissioning teams, and the supply chain.
  • Report on delivery performance and issues.
  • Follow change control procedures and handle technical queries.
  • Engage early with commissioning teams.
  • Attend site meetings, quality reviews, and Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and lessons learned.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors.

About You:

  • Experience managing similar roles.
  • Engineering/Technical qualification (HNC minimum or equivalent).
  • Professional accreditation (advantageous).
  • Understanding of engineering principles, legislation, standards.
  • Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment or similar industries.
  • Experience in design and installation stages.
  • Commercial awareness and knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Understanding of CDM Health and Safety duties.
  • CSCS or equivalent card.
  • Proficient in MS Office and document management systems.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
