Job summary

Interaction Technical is recruiting a Project Engineer – Mechanical Design for a growing team in Wellingborough. You will create 3D/2D drawings and specifications for conveyors and associated equipment, using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Ideal candidates will have prior project engineering experience in structural steel or similar, and be able to work with cross-functional teams to ensure projects stay within budget and meet performance targets.

Qualifications

• Essential: Previous experience as a project engineer in structural steel or similar industries.
• Essential: Proven ability to read and create technical drawings and specifications.
• Advantageous: Knowledge of SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD for detailed drawings.
• Advantageous: Experience with sheet metal and fabrication.
• Advantageous: Relevant design engineering qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D and 2D drawings and specifications using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for conveyors, structural steel and ancillary equipment.
• Collaborate with sales and projects to ensure budgets and cost-effectiveness.
• Review and improve existing designs, visiting customer sites if required to verify installation performance.
• Lead projects, provide engineering support across departments and mentor staff.
• Carry out cost analysis to ensure projects are cost-effective.
• Produce documentation and follow health and safety procedures.

Salary: £45,000-£50,000 per annum
Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Hours: 8.30-17.00 Mon to Thu, 9.30-17.00 Fridays
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

The Company:

Interaction Technical have partnered with a market leading manufacturer of waste management equipment on their search for experienced project/design engineers to join their growing team. Our client are well-established within their industry and have reached a stage of exponential growth where they are growing their projects department.

The Role:

• Produce detailed 3D and 2D drawings and specifications using the SolidWorks and AutoCAD packages to produce company products (conveyors, structural steel and ancillary equipment) for brand new projects within the business.
• Liaise with the sales and projects departments to ensure that all projects and plans are within budget and are cost-effective.
• Review and improve existing designs within the business, visiting customer sites where required to see the product you designed once it has been installed to ensure it is working efficiently and effectively.
• To lead projects effectively, providing engineering support to all departments within the projects, mentoring and training other members of staff where required.
• Carry out cost analysis activities within new projects to ensure that all projects carried out are cost-effective.
• Produce documentation where required and follow all company legislation and Health & Safety procedures.

The Requirements:

• Previous experience as a project engineer within the structural steel industry or similar industries (essential)
• Proven ability to read and create technical drawings and specifications (essential)
• Knowledge of the SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD CAD packages to produce detailed engineering drawing and specifications (advantageous)
• Previous experience working in and around sheet metal and fabrication (advantageous)
• Relevant qualifications within design engineering (advantageous)
