Job description
The Project Engineer is responsible for delivering assigned projects or a defined scope of work from Project Managers in the delivery of a Capex / Maintenance projects. The Project Engineer provides technical lead and commercial support to the Project where required. The candidate will be developed by the Engineering Lead (AME or WLS) over time and be given increased responsibility in line with increased demonstrable competency. The scope of the Project Engineer is defined as:
- Supporting the assigned project focal point in all aspects of contracted project execution from award to close out.
Key objective is to support the Engineering Lead across all projects ensuring the following:
- Project documentation, procedures, and workpacks are developed / defined in line with procedures.
- Quality client experience (expectations are managed and met)
- Cost management of discrete project budgets
- Contract management (Delivering to the scope of the contract / service order)
- Schedule management (Maintaining a visible schedule and delivering on time)
- Stakeholder management (Structured and ad-hoc communications, in person, video conferencing and email)
Delivery Management:
- Supports and on occasion facilitates kick-off meetings on successful awards with the relevant project team members.
- Supports and on occasion manages projects including scope of work, internal customer interface and expectations, budget, timelines, contract and deliverables for discrete internal scopes for delivery to the Project Delivery Team.
- Preparation / review of calculations and work procedures.
- Technical specification of materials and submission of purchase requisitions.
- Create review and approval of Risk Assessments and their implementation.
- Effective close out of projects, reporting and clearing of backloaded materials.
- Supplies technical solutions and creates work procedures.
- Manage the dispatch of materials, equipment, and personnel to site.
- Performs cost monitoring and control of allocated project packages, producing internal project work package progress reports.
- Co-ordination and management of the dispatch of materials from supplier / to site where required.
Job requirements
Qualifications/Experience:
- Good knowledge of Engineering standards, procedures, and work practices.
- Proven track record in project environment or manufacturing environment.
- Background in engineering, Hydraulic, mechanical or Electrical.
- Knowledge of formal project management methods, processes, procedures, techniques and tools - Critical Path, MS Project, different stages of planning, risk & issue assessment, requirements analysis, estimating & costing.
- Ability to present commercial and technical solutions for changes to work scopes to internal clients.
- Ability to work within a team and work across departments to achieve a common goal.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office applications, and database use and management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
- Skill and experience with small to medium scale projects.
- HNC / HND / degree level is preferred.
- Experience in project management and project engineering within an Oil and Gas or Engineering Service company is required.
