Job description

Project Engineer – HV/LV Infrastructure (m/f/d)

Central Belt | Permanent | Substations, Switching, Protection Testing

We are supporting a high-voltage services contractor in the search for a Project Engineer to join their growing delivery team. This role offers a mix of site-based project execution and technical leadership, covering works across substations, private networks, and renewable energy installations.

You’ll be managing inspection, testing, and installation works at voltages up to 33kV, working across wind, solar, battery storage, and traditional HV sites.



Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain LV/HV substation equipment

  • Carry out protection testing and interpret results

  • Complete HV/LV jointing and cable terminations

  • Install switchgear, transformers, and earthing systems

  • Plan and execute HV switching, isolation, and earthing (up to 33kV)

  • Prepare and issue RAMS, permits, and safety documentation

  • Identify faults and coordinate remedial works with quotations

  • Supervise technicians and subcontractors on site

  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations

  • Ensure safety and technical compliance across all assigned projects

  • Analyse test data and produce detailed test reports



Ideal Background

  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (Power Distribution )

  • Experience with private networks and/or renewable energy infrastructure

  • Familiarity with current Health & Safety legislation and HV safety procedures

  • GWO certifications (ideal for onshore wind environments)

  • Strong working knowledge of HV systems up to 33kV

  • Emergency First Aid & Manual Handling certification

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Strong IT and documentation skills
