Job summary

South East Water is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Investment Delivery Directorate in Snodland, Kent. You will own all technical and engineering aspects of assigned projects from conception to completion, including a PLC replacement project, with a flexible hybrid working model.

You will collaborate with the project manager and stakeholders, travel to project sites across the South East, and ensure safety, quality and schedule compliance while supporting your team.

Qualifications

  • A degree, HNC, or HND in an engineering discipline.
  • Chartered or working towards CEng.
  • Proven Project Engineer experience.
  • Solid understanding of PLCs.
  • Experience in water distribution or similar industry.
  • Strong CDM 2015 knowledge and application.
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
  • Excellent communication and time management.
  • Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects.
  • Monitor compliance to codes, practices, policies, performance standards and specifications.
  • Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel's performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Assign responsibilities and support the project team.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders about their needs and goals for the project.

We have an incredible opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Investment Delivery Directorate. Based out of our Snodland, Kent office, you will enjoy a flexible, hybrid working model that allows you to manage your own time between home, the office, and our project sites across the beautiful South East. Supporting a Project Manager, you will take ownership of all technical and engineering aspects of your assigned projects from conception to completion, including a PLC replacement project. You will be the technical anchor-planning, scheduling, and managing tasks to ensure accuracy, safety, and top-tier quality. Although this role offers flexible/hybrid working (office/home), you will be expected to travel to any location or site within South East Water's supply areas, as required, as part of the project(s) you are working on e.g. pre-construction and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings, defect reviews etc.

Main Responsibilities

What you'll need
  • A degree, HNC, or HND in an engineering discipline.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (CEng).
  • Proven working experience as a Project Engineer.
  • A solid understanding of PLCs.
  • Experience in a water distribution or similar industrial background.
  • A strong understanding of CDM 2015 and how it's applied to projects.
  • A strong understanding of the various NEC contracts and their application.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
