Job summary

South East Water in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to work on high-impact projects delivering reliable water services. The role is hybrid, with site visits across the South East to oversee milestones and design reviews.

You will develop technical solutions with cross-disciplinary teams, produce technical reports, and ensure compliance with standards. The role offers a supportive culture focused on professional growth and meaningful purpose.

Qualifications

  • HNC or degree in engineering or equivalent training.
  • Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with the IET.
  • Experience in water utilities is advantageous.
  • Ability to work closely with others.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical solutions with multi-disciplinary teams (Process, Civil and Mechanical).
  • Produce technical reports and carry out checks/approvals of complex electrical designs, including calculations, specs and drawings.
  • Analyze options and select appropriate technical solutions as appropriate.
  • Ensure contractor designs comply with company specs and relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop outline scheme designs.
  • Assist in preparation of scheme programmes, estimates and tender documentation.

Summary

Are you a curious and experienced Electrical Engineer looking for a role with real purpose? At South East Water, you won't just be managing circuits; you'll be applying your expertise to complex, high-impact projects that deliver clean, safe drinking water to millions. This role supports hybrid working, allowing you to balance home and office life, with the opportunity to visit our diverse sites across the South East to oversee project milestones and design reviews.

Main responsibilities
  • Development of technical solutions and coordinating work with multi-disciplinary teams {Process, Civil and Mechanical)
  • Production of technical reports and the ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out checking, reviews and approval of complex electrical detailed designs, to include calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
  • Analysis of options and selection of technical solutions as appropriate.
  • Ensuring contractors designs comply with the latest company specifications and other relevant industry specifications (Wimes, IET wiring regulations etc.) and legislations.
  • Development of outline scheme designs
  • Assistance in preparation of scheme programmes, estimates and tender documentation
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
  • HNC or a Degree in Engineering or equivalent training in the relevant area.
  • Working towards becoming an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with the IET.
  • Extensive experience in water utilities would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work closely with others.
  • Technically competent knowing when to refer to others when required.
  • Good technical report writing and editorial skills, and good oral communication.
  • Detailed knowledge of PLC systems, HMI’s, Variable Speed Drives, Harmonic filtration, data networks, telemetry systems and Standby Generator systems.
  • Competent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite - knowledge of Google Workspace would be beneficial.

Employment requirements

It is necessary for you to have the legal right to work in the UK when you begin employment with South East Water. Additionally, as part of the employment offer, you will need to pass background, identity, and employment referencing checks.

Compensation package

Up to £56,000 p.a. dependant on experience
