Job description

FJA is recruiting a Project Engineer on behalf of a leading manufacturer of food processing and packaging machinery to strengthen their existing team.

Location: Rochdale, Lancashire.

Project Engineer role:
  • Manage contracts from order to handover whilst ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and quality project delivery.
  • Facilitate communication and issue resolution throughout the project.
  • Ensure all relevant parties are informed of the status of each contract.
Project Engineer responsibilities:
  • Review contracts pre-handover to identify discrepancies and assess project risks.
  • Develop project schedules aligned with customer timelines and key dates.
  • Request design requirements, oversee design and procurement, and secure customer approval on design documents.
  • Order long-lead items and track financial milestones.
  • Provide the Electrical Department with control system specifications and timelines.
  • Confirm software specifications and ensure fully tested software before delivery.
  • Track contract deviations, collaborate with Sales on variations, and log payment or installation delays.
  • Address factory and design team queries to avoid delays.
  • Ensure effective on-site communication and document completed/installed equipment.
  • Maintain contact with production to ensure timely delivery and organise internal testing and FAT.
  • Invite customers for equipment inspections, arrange delivery, and prepare all necessary manuals and documentation before handover.
  • Plan and manage installation, coordinate subcontractors, and provide installation and commissioning teams with necessary documents (including RAMS and log templates).
  • Liaise with commissioning team to ensure equipment testing and handover as per contract.
  • Ensure handover documents (training logs, completion certificates, SAT documents) are completed and stored within one week of project completion.
  • Offer continuous technical support throughout the product's lifespan.
