Job Description

PROJECT ENGINEER

Liaising with the Sales Team and the Customer to reach an optimum solution and create a value proposition for the customer. Taking the agreed layout from inception to concept, customer approval.

Presenting the finalised solution to a team of Design Engineers to produce high quality drawing packs for the purpose of manufacture. In addition, the role requires that the candidate will be responsible for technical support to other functions within the business.

See the project through manufacture, install, commissioning and closure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Produce 3D Block Layout models in Solidworks that reach optimum solutions to create value added propositions and establish a clear scope of supply for the Customer.
  2. Present these Block Layout models to the customer to attain sign off.
  3. Meeting with customers and representing the Company in a professional and commercial manner.
  4. Liaise with the Sales Team in managing additional sales revenue from items outside of the original scope of supply.
  5. Liaise with a team of Design Engineers to produce SolidWorks models/drawings working from concepts/layout drawings for the purpose of manufacture ensuring they conform to all mandatory legislation and to the customers’ expectations.
  6. Ensure effective communication within the Projects/Design Team and across the organization highlighting project progress/performance.
  7. Manage project cost versus budget to ensure projected profitability is met.
  8. To support other departments where required on issues of a technical nature.
  9. Execute risk assessments for all propositions.
  10. The production and maintenance of technical documentation as required.
  11. Constant interrogation of product design to identify and implement cost savings and manufacturing/process improvements.
  12. Specification of mechanical components such as belts, motors and pneumatics.
  13. Using all above you will take a sold project from the sales department, add the detail necessary to get a customer sign off before presenting to the detailed design team and then following the project through manufacture, install and project closure.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum 3rd level qualification in Mechanical/Industrial engineering.
  2. Fully conversant with SolidWorks.
  3. Experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  4. Experience with electrical and pneumatic controls is a distinct advantage.
  5. Experience in sheet metal fabrication a distinct advantage.
  6. Experience in the food industry a distinct advantage.
  7. Hands on engineering experience a distinct advantage.
  8. Commercially astute.

  1. Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  2. Excellent written/oral communication skills with the ability to be assertive.
  3. Excellent record keeping skills.
  4. Ability to simultaneously deliver on multiple projects/commitments.
  5. Ability to liaise at all levels within the organisation.
  6. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  7. Ability to remain calm under pressure and multi task to meet tight deadlines.
  8. PC literate.
  9. A good eye with high attention to detail.
  10. An enthusiastic and can-do attitude.
  11. Must be willing to travel and work weekends where required.
