Project Engineer – Offshore, Marine, Oil & Gas, Renewable & Defence Markets

We are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Project Engineer to join a dynamic Project Management team within a fast-paced and technically demanding project-based business. You will play a pivotal role in delivering integrated products across the offshore, marine, oil & gas, renewable, and defence sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support the delivery of projects in line with contractual obligations, specifications, and quality/safety requirements.
  2. Take responsibility for the planning, prioritising, and expediting of various project elements, including engineering design, procurement, production, commissioning, acceptance, and delivery.
  3. Coordinate purchasing activities, collaborating with Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) requirements are met in accordance with the project schedule.
  4. Compile and collate essential project documentation, including technical and procurement specifications, progress reports, and final documentation packs.
  5. Contribute to configuration management, risk management, and cost control processes, ensuring smooth project execution and successful outcomes.
Key Requirements:
  1. Solid understanding of mechanical engineering (or related discipline) within the offshore, marine, oil & gas, renewable, and/or defence sectors.
  2. Familiarity with project management methodologies, such as APM or PRINCE2.
  3. Proven experience working within a project team that has successfully delivered complex EPC projects in similar industries.
  4. Strong planning, configuration management, and organisational skills.
  5. Sound knowledge of contracts, terms & conditions, and experience in identifying, drafting, and agreeing on contract amendments or Variations (VORs).
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple key suppliers and sub-contracts effectively.
  7. Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  8. Highly motivated with a proactive attitude and the energy to direct the project team and stakeholders toward success.
  9. Self-starter with strong initiative and problem-solving abilities, able to work with minimal supervision.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
  1. Experience in engineering/project management of complex design and build projects for global clients.
  2. Membership of a recognised engineering body (e.g., IMechE).
  3. Formal project management qualifications or training (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
  4. Proficient with software tools, including Planning (e.g., MSP, Primavera), ERP/MRP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP), PDM (e.g., TeamCenter), and MS Office (including SharePoint).
  5. A degree in an engineering discipline.
