Looking to make a real impact on one of the UK’s most exciting and vital infrastructure megaprojects? We are seeking a Project Engineerto join our clients high-performing engineering team. This is a rare opportunity to shape a nationally significant nuclear new build project, helping to deliver secure, low-carbon energy to millions for decades to come.

You’ll work within a forward-thinking and collaborative project environment, contributing to technical excellence and complex design integration within a fast-paced, strategically important programme.

As a Project Engineer in the Civil Works Programme (CWP), you will be part of the Engineering & Technical function — a key player in ensuring successful technical delivery of large civil engineering packages. Reporting to the Technical & Engineering Manager, you will contribute to the definition, integration, and assurance of the end-to-end design lifecycle for nuclear island structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and validate technical requirements and specifications
  • Manage design risks, open points, and change control processes
  • Provide support for technical assurance and design acceptance reviews
  • Coordinate technical interfaces with infrastructure, site establishment, and other programmes
  • Support responses to Early Warnings, Technical Queries, Compensation Events, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering and design governance frameworks
  • Oversee supply chain engagement to maintain design momentum and quality

Technical Skills & Experience – What We’re Looking For

  • Design experience in:
  • Heavy civil structures (reinforced concrete and/or structural steel)
  • Management of multidisciplinary design and integration teams
  • Strong knowledge of UK design standards and practices (e.g. British Standards)
  • Proven ability to work in delivery-focused technical teams and interface with suppliers
  • Experience working on large infrastructure or energy projects
  • Confident communicator across all levels: delivery teams, regulators, and design authorities
  • Experience within the nuclear or regulated infrastructure sector
  • Knowledge of safety-related systems and components

If you don’t meet every requirement but bring experience from infrastructure, transport, energy, or utilities sectors — particularly in design management, systems engineering, or civil delivery — we’d still love to hear from you.

Qualifications

  • Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or working towards chartership
  • Project delivery experience in civil engineering design
