Job summary

A leading company in the engineering sector is seeking a technical support engineer to manage control systems projects from inception through to delivery. The role involves hands-on work with network systems, Linux servers, and a variety of technical documentation. Qualifications

• Experience with project lifecycle support and control system troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols and Linux administration.
• Degree in engineering or computer science preferred, vocational training considered.

• Support project from design through to implementation and testing.

• Produce design, maintenance manuals, and customer documentation.

Job description

Reporting to: Engineering Team Leader

Reports: monthly management team reports / project status reports including commercial reports

Responsibilities

• Technically support a project from inception though the whole life cycle of design and implementation, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing
• Assembly of and configuration of control system products, including all interfaces to third-party systems, with a disciplined approach to system configuration, backup, and restoration
• Configuration of IP public address and voice alarm systems to interface with control systems
• Produce project-specific design and test documentation for control systems
• Produce all required customer and internal handover documentation
• Produce project-specific user reference documentation, maintenance manuals, and deployment guides
• Understand company processes and work within them
• Design and support customer upgrade and migration plans
• Troubleshoot and maintain knowledgebase for PAVA and control system products
• Support service desk activities as required for in service systems
• Opportunities to travel both in the UK and internationally to support local teams in the implementation and in-service support of customer projects

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

• Platform engineering
• Layer 2 and layer 3 networking knowledge with a good understanding of Multicast
• Ubuntu or Debian-based Linux system administration - main technologies used are:
