Job summary

Allied Protek is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to manage smaller projects end-to-end and assist Project Managers on larger initiatives. You will coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication and site activities, liaise with customers and suppliers, and Monitor progress to meet budget and schedule targets.

The role involves reviewing drawings, providing technical guidance to the team, and ensuring quality and safety practices are followed on all tasks.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification or relevant practical experience.
• Experience on engineering, fabrication, manufacturing or construction projects.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specs.
• Strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities.
• Good customer, supplier and internal stakeholder communication.

Description

Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join our project team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing smaller projects from order through to completion, as well as supporting Project Managers on larger projects. You will work closely with engineering, procurement, fabrication, quality and site teams to make sure work is delivered to the required standard, programme and budget. The role would suit someone with previous project experience who is looking to take on more responsibility and develop their project management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Manage smaller projects from order through to completion.
• Support the Project Manager on larger projects and take responsibility for specific areas of the project.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication and site activities.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments.
• Monitor project progress and make sure key activities are completed on time.
• Prepare and maintain project programmes and action lists.
• Track project costs and commitments and report any issues to the Project Manager.
• Assist with quotations, variations and additional works.
• Review drawings, specifications and other technical information.
• Work with the engineering team to make sure drawings and technical information are available when required.
• Work with procurement and stores to ensure materials and equipment are ordered and available when needed.
• Liaise with the workshop and site teams to plan and coordinate work.
• Attend project meetings and provide updates on progress and outstanding issues.
• Help resolve technical and commercial issues as they arise.
• Maintain project records and documentation throughout the project.
• Assist with project completion, handover and final documentation.
• Make sure company quality, health and safety requirements are followed.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Engineering qualification, such as HNC/HND, or relevant practical experience.
• Previous experience working in an engineering, fabrication, manufacturing or construction environment.
• Previous experience of working on engineering projects.
• Able to understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage several tasks at the same time.
• Good communication skills and the ability to deal with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• Good understanding of project costs and the importance of delivering work within budget.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Able to work independently on smaller projects and as part of a wider team on larger projects.
• Experience in mechanical engineering, piping, fabrication or process engineering.
• Experience of working with engineering contractors or fabricators.
• Experience with project planning software.
• Knowledge of NEC, IChemE or other engineering contracts.
• Experience of project cost control and reporting.
