Job summary

Blighter Surveillance Systems is seeking a Project Engineer to help deliver and develop Blighter radar systems and projects. The role involves system-level design, architecture, and coordinating with customers to capture requirements.

You will engage in radar test trials, work with the sales and support teams, and travel for supplier and customer visits in the UK and overseas as needed. Training on Blighter radars will be provided, and collaboration across disciplines is essential.

Qualifications

• System-level thinking and design principles for complex radar systems.
• Experience with formal system requirements and documentation.
• Interdisciplinary engineering background across EE, software, mechanics.
• Customer-facing experience with requirements gathering and stakeholder communication.
• Ability to create system diagrams and maintain documentation.
• Experience installing software on Windows-based computers and basic networking knowledge.

Responsibilities

• System-level design, architecture, and specification of systems and installations using Blighter Radars.
• Collaborate with sales and customers to establish and develop their requirements.
• Plan and oversee radar test and development trials.
• Work with the support team to deliver completed solutions and systems.
• Support existing and future systems by hands-on work with Blighter radars as required.

• System-level design, architecture,and specificationofsystems and installationsusingBlighter Radars.
• Workingwithbothour sales team andcustomerstoestablishand developtheirrequirements.
• Planning & overseeing radar test and development trials.
• Working with thesupport teamtodeliver completed solutionsand systems.
• Supportingexisting & futuresystemsby working hands-on with Blighter radars asrequired.

The role is based at ourmain officebut will sometimes require visitsto supplier and customer locationsbothin the UK(4-5 times/year)andoverseas(2-3times/year).

The engineering team at Blighter is small and flexible. We are looking for someone capable of working on their own initiative,but whoalsoappreciates the vital importance ofcollaboratingand communicatingeffectively with other engineers and end users.In-depth knowledge of radars is notrequired– training onBlighterradarsand systemswill be provided, with many opportunities for hands-onexperience.

You will have the following skills and abilities:

• A demonstrable ability to design, develop, analyse,and thinkatasystem level.
• Experience working with formal systemrequirements.
• Anappreciation ofmultipleengineeringdisciplines.
• Experience in a customer-facing role.
• The ability to create andmaintainsystem diagrams and documentation.
• Experience installing and configuring software on Windows-basedcomputers.
• Computer networking (at intermediate level or above).
• Apractical and hands-onapproach.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  

Youwillhavethe following backgroundand experience:

• Electrical or Electronic Engineering
• Software Engineering/Computer Science
• Mechanical Engineering
• Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering
• 2Y+ experience in security, defence, or othermixed-disciplinehigh-tech industry
  

The followingskill &experiencewould bebeneficial, but notrequired:

• Experience of radar systems.
• Industrial experience from an aerospace systems, sensors, or ISTAR/C4ISR/ESM domain.
• The ability to understand (andperhaps design) simple electronics.
• The ability to write simple software from scratch (e.python scripts)oramend or tweak more complex software

Recent graduates who have completed a sandwich course,year in industry, or with other significantrelevantworking experiencewillalsobe considered.The requirement for occasional travel means thata driver’s licencewill beconsideredbeneficial.
