Project Engineer - Requirements
- Proven experience delivering projects under NEC3 or NEC4 contracts.
- Experience of working in infrastructure
- Experience of working on rail projects would be advantageous
- Competent in the use of project scheduling and management tools such as MS Project, Teamcenter, and common data environments.
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Membership (or working towards) of a recognised professional body such as APM, PRINCE2, or RICS.
Project Engineer Responsibilities
- Overall accountability for the full lifecycle delivery of projects under NEC contracts, ensuring compliance with programme, cost, quality, and safety requirements.
- Oversee contractual obligations, including early warnings, compensation events, change control, and payment processes.
- Prepare and maintain project plans, schedules, and documentation using systems such as MS Project and Teamcenter.
- Coordinate internal teams, sister companies, contractors, and clients to ensure timely delivery of designs, data, and documentation.
- Lead project meetings, monitor progress, and identify risks, delays, or issues, taking proactive steps to maintain control of scope and schedule.
- Report on project progress and challenges to the UK leadership team, Project Director, and Steering Committee.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and commercial reporting activities, including CVRs and contract variations.
- Maintain transparent and auditable records of decisions, costs, and performance across the project.
- Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and represent the project in both technical and commercial discussions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and NEC contract requirements.
- Provide clear communication and leadership to internal and external teams, driving collaborative project success.
