Laing O'Rourke (Expanded) are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to join our work winning function in Dartford, Kent.

This is a great opportunity to gain pre-construction experience within a multifaceted business unit.

The role will migrate into the delivery of projects in Eastern England (Cambridge, Suffolk, Essex).

The Expanded Group provides total capability in the early construction phases of major projects, offering an end-to-end solution or a bespoke selection of services. Backed by a central technical design and engineering resource, we can deliver a full range of piling, precast concrete, post-tensioning, and structural techniques.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Utilize a Digital Engineering model to provide information for creating Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets. Demonstrate confidence to other team members.
  • Fully implement and ensure compliance with the LOR Management of Temporary Works procedure on projects. Explain these procedures to others.
  • Determine the most appropriate methods of dimensional control, consulting specialists as needed. Ensure setting-out data is controlled.
  • Interrogate and transfer setting-out data from 3D CAD data.
  • Determine requirements for and format of as-built surveys and reports. Define the scope of surveys to demonstrate compliance.
  • Produce and/or ensure that Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are created, available, and implemented, fully addressing specifications and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure adherence to project and company quality procedures.
  • Utilize and recommend best engineering methods.
  • Apply design process knowledge.
  • Produce and approve method statements and risk assessments.
  • Handle procurement activities.
  • Manage a team of 2-4 Senior Engineers, depending on the project.
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or an industry-recognized technical or engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) with demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
  • Approximately 8 years of experience in a Civil Engineering role.
