Job Description:

Our client is hiring a Project Director to lead large-scale substation projects supporting data centres. The role involves direct oversight of multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, to spec, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

• Own full delivery responsibility (technical, commercial, programme).
• Coordinate all design and engineering teams under the Lead Consultant role.
• Ensure deliverables meet client expectations and quality standards.
• Track changes in scope and ensure commercial implications are captured.

Commercial Management

• Oversee project profitability, cost tracking, and revenue reporting.
• Produce monthly financial performance reports and quarterly board updates.
• Agree fees, scope, and drawdown schedules with clients.
• Raise invoices and follow up on outstanding payments (max 60-day terms).

Client Management & Business Development

• Maintain direct relationships with key clients.
• Handle all project-related issues or escalations.
• Identify cross-selling opportunities and support new business pitches.
• Attend client meetings and presentations as needed.

Requirements

• BEng or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or similar.
• 10+ years’ experience with substation/switchyard projects (up to 765kV ideal).
• Strong presales, design, and delivery management experience.
• Comfortable with project P&L ownership and reporting.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project/design tools.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer preferred.
