Job description

We are looking to strengthen our Delivery team with a Projects Director covering a £150m project in Winchester on our CMDP Joint Venture Framework.

You will report directly to the Programme Director and will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of the project, ensuring consistency with company strategy by planning and evaluating project activities within the required time and tender estimate, without risking the health and safety of all concerned, while ensuring good customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Promote exceptional safety and delivery quality standards to the workforce
  • Ensure that the BMS is implemented throughout the project delivery process, from tender handover to final completion
  • Maintain good client relationships at all levels
  • Maintain the company’s reputation by fostering good relationships with joint venture partners and suppliers
  • Ensure sufficient trained personnel are available and aware of their responsibilities
  • Plan projects, review and approve the Project Execution Plan (PEP), and monitor project delivery
  • Ensure detailed construction plans and method statements are prepared, approved, and in place before activities commence
  • Ensure all records referred to in the PEP are complete and available at contract completion
  • Report site non-conformities and identify approximate costs
  • Manage all commercial aspects proactively, providing accurate forecasts and estimates
  • Implement and understand Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies and Targets
  • Satisfy customer requirements to enhance perception and satisfaction
  • Maintain knowledge of technical disciplines related to water and wastewater projects
  • Have detailed project management knowledge from conception to end-user acceptance
  • Engage in continuous professional development through external networking and conferences
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably required, consistent with the role's responsibilities
  • Present a professional image and maintain positive relationships internally and externally

Essential requirements include:

  • Project management experience in multi-disciplinary design and construction projects, ideally in water industry
  • Degree or equivalent in construction, commercial, or engineering discipline
  • Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work with clients, stakeholders, and end users
  • Delivery-driven with target setting and team management skills
  • Extensive project delivery experience
  • Knowledge of Construction Contracts, NEC and/or IChemE
  • Negotiation and administration skills
  • Ability to present at MWHT Governance Reviews
  • Risk & Opportunity Management experience
  • Knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety

Desirable skills include experience in water and wastewater treatment plants, Chartered status, NEC Project Manager Accreditation, and advanced technical competencies in contract management, governance, budgeting, risk management, project planning, digital delivery, procurement, solutions development, stakeholder management, resource management, change management, and quality management. Behavioral competencies include communication, collaboration, client focus, results orientation, integrity, coaching, and leadership.
