Job Description:

EQUANS is looking for a Project Director Local Authority Services to join our team in Manchester on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

As a Project Director, you will develop, track, and evaluate programmes to help achieve goals and objectives of the Local Authority Services Operational Unit. The role will require oversight of a strong pipeline of Decarbonisation Projects (through central government PSDS and Local Authority Capital Budgets), as well as delivery of Minor Works across a number of Local Authority contracts through a Regional Centre of Excellence.

You will lead and administer a large and diverse team of operational, commercial, technical, support staff, and contractors, both directly and indirectly, through managers and supervisors. You also create and manage complex budgets and business plans relating to project development and implementation.

Your experience will include providing strategic, technical, operational, commercial, financial, and managerial leadership to implement project delivery successfully. As a director, you have a background of conducting regular reviews to ensure all project activities are accountable, accurate, and meet financial deliverables, obligations and key performance metrics, specifically in relation to Health and Safety.

What will you deliver?

  • Overseeing the overall management and performance of major projects and minor works including feasibility reports, funding applications, planning, design, construction, programme and commercial controls / monitoring, ensuring each project is delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety metrics are achieved and to lead on a culture of behavioural safety across the delivery unit.
  • Adherence with legislation, including Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act (as amended), CDM Regulations, and Building Safety Act.
  • Adherence with contractual obligations applicable to each project, recognizing that obligations will differ from project to project.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner.
  • Building and sustaining an integrated, collaborative, and high-performance team that responds to the needs of the organization and stakeholders.
  • Providing leadership and strategic direction aligned with Equans' ethos, methods, and best practices.
  • Liaising with project stakeholders regularly.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with key client stakeholders.
  • Estimating resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending adjustments as necessary.
  • Delegating tasks and responsibilities appropriately.
  • Planning, scheduling, and managing project timelines and milestones using suitable tools, including governance and sign-off procedures.
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Managing changes in project scope, identifying risks, and devising mitigation strategies.
  • Coaching, mentoring, motivating, and supervising project team members and contractors.

Who are we looking for?

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Surveying, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Professional accreditation is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of project management experience with a successful track record in construction.
