Here at 1st Step Solutions, we are supporting a leading national M&E contractor who are seeking a dynamic Project Director to join their growing team. This individual will be responsible for taking ownership of high-profile infrastructure projects. This is a pivotal role for an accomplished leader with the expertise to manage large-scale project delivery while building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.

This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to direct complex mechanical and electrical engineering works from concept through to completion, shaping the success of landmark schemes and driving technical excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across all phases of major M&E projects, from design and procurement to installation, commissioning, and handover.
• Oversee multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and consultants, ensuring delivery against programme, cost, and quality benchmarks.
• Champion best practice in health, safety, environment, and quality management.
• Lead design coordination, value engineering, and risk management to optimise outcomes.
• Act as the senior interface for clients and stakeholders, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships.
• Contribute to business growth by identifying opportunities, securing repeat work, and enhancing the company\'s market reputation.

About You

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Substantial experience directing major M&E projects.
• In-depth knowledge of design, installation, and commissioning across both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Proven ability to lead, inspire, and manage large teams to deliver exceptional results.
• Strong commercial awareness and excellent client-facing skills.
• Consistent track record of delivering projects to time, budget, and quality targets.
