Job summary

Alstom is seeking a visionary Project Director to lead transformative UK rolling stock initiatives from our Derby office. You will shape strategy, drive multi-national collaboration and ensure delivery excellence across complex rail projects.

The role requires deep governance, risk management, and a proven track record in leading senior teams to deliver high-impact mobility solutions while embracing innovation and digital transformation.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading large-scale rail projects with multinational teams.
  • Proven track record in QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Planning) leadership.
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with contract-based projects in Derby/UK context.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee large-scale project delivery with scalability and sustainable growth.
  • Be accountable for QCDP and optimise project financial performance (Margin & Cash).
  • Define project strategy in line with contract requirements, including PMP elaboration and objectives allocation to Sub-Systems.
  • Guarantee operational reliability, implementing robust risk management and quality assurance processes.
  • Lead and coordinate project activities and stakeholders from transfer to close-out.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration, aligning stakeholders and teams to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Champion innovation, integrating emerging technologies and methodologies to advance project outcomes.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, mentoring teams and embedding best practices across the organisation.
  • Strong proven experience in project management in senior leadership roles in complex projects.

  • Exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and communication skills to inspire high-performing teams.
  • Advanced skills in negotiation and conflict management.
  • Degree in engineering, business, or equivalent experience.
