Job description

Overview:
We are working in partnership with an award-winning Tier 1 building contractor to recruit a highly experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a flagship £70m+ school build project in the Cardiff area.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the overall delivery of a £70m new build school project from inception to completion
2. Manage and coordinate a large project team, including site managers, engineers, planners, and commercial staff
3. Report directly to the Regional Operations Director
4. Oversee health & safety, quality, programme, and commercial performance
5. Build strong relationships with the client, consultants, and supply chain
6. Ensure timely delivery to the highest standards, within budget and programme

Requirements:

1. Proven experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager delivering complex new build schemes (ideally £30m+)
2. Background in main contracting - Tier 1 contractor experience preferred
3. Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
4. Track record of successfully delivering education or public sector projects is advantageous
5. Relevant construction qualifications and certifications (e.g., SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid)
