About the Role

Energise Your Career, Accelerate a Net-Zero Future #RenewablesJobs

The opportunity

Join our Solar, Storage & Private Wire team as Project Development Manager and work alongside ten expert developers driving game-changing renewable projects. We're hiring for a key role based in one of our regional offices (London, Durham, Edinburgh, Cardiff) with flexibility for remote working.

You'll help develop an exciting pipeline of solar and storage projects across the UK, while also supporting the wider EDF Renewables team.

Pay, benefits and culture

Looking for a place where you can work hard, have fun, and make a difference? You're in the right place!

At EDF, we thrive on new ideas and continuous growth. We value and reward your hard work with a competitive salary, bonus, pension, and a flexible benefits package—whether it's an EV, private healthcare, extra holiday, or more!

Enjoy the freedom and flexibility to work in a way that suits you—on-site, in the office, or hybrid from home. We're proud to champion diversity and inclusion through our Everyone's Welcome programme and are a Disability Confident employer, ready to support your needs.

What you'll be doing

As Project Development Manager, you'll champion standards across all projects, working hands-on with key stakeholders to:

  • Lead on land deals—from spotting new opportunities to securing option and lease agreements.
  • Drive projects through the full development lifecycle, up to securing consent.
  • Build and manage project teams, ensuring the right skills are in place at every stage.
  • Present sharp, clear updates to project boards to keep things moving.
  • Oversee environmental and technical assessments, working with expert consultants.
  • Align efforts with third-party developers to hit shared goals.
  • Stay on point with EDFR UK governance, budgeting, and reporting processes.
  • Support grid access strategy to secure long-term project success.

What do you need to be great at this role?

  • You'll hold a degree in Planning, Land, Environment, or similar—other relevant qualifications are welcome.
  • Awareness of renewable energy development and its key environmental and technical challenges.
  • Broad understanding of consenting processes in the UK and/or Ireland; experience with DCO and/or TCPA processes would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and methods.
  • Experience working in virtual or matrix teams—ideally with some project leadership.
  • Strong communicator and natural team player with great interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to EDF Renewables' HSE standards, with an understanding of HSE and CDM requirements.
  • Enthusiastic, curious, and ready to grow—especially as policy and technology evolve.
  • Passionate about high-quality development, consultation, and community engagement.
  • Flexible to travel across the UK and Ireland, with occasional overnight stays.
  • GIS skills are a plus but not a deal-breaker.
  • Bonus if you've worked in renewables, energy, planning, land, or environmental sectors.

Closing date for applications: 11th May 2025

Location: Very flexible within the UK. You can work remotely with travel to offices/sites within the UK and Ireland when required.
