What you will do

Johnson Controls is seeking a Project Development Engineer experienced in industrial refrigeration design to support the delivery and execution of our Industrial Refrigeration (IREF) projects.

As part of a small but growing team across the UK, you will have the opportunity to design and support the installation of complex industrial refrigeration and process cooling projects.

Our building efficiency division provides products, services, and solutions that increase energy efficiency and reduce operating costs for over one million customers worldwide. We specialize in equipment, controls, and services for HVAC, refrigeration, and security systems. The UK&I Installation team delivers innovative solutions across various industry segments.

How you will do it

You will act as the primary technical lead for design-related solutions, supporting the development of process cooling solutions from concept to completion. Your responsibilities include:

• Designing compliant industrial refrigeration systems
• Supporting operations with system dimensioning, component selection, piping, and documentation
• Producing fully compliant P&ID and Bills of Materials
• Developing customer and supplier relationships
• Staying updated with current and emerging technologies

What we look for

• Experience in a similar role
• Engineering degree or related qualification
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) and BS EN 378
• Understanding of CDM & Health & Safety regulations
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D design software
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, especially natural refrigerants
• Commercial awareness
• Membership of the Institute of Refrigeration or working towards it
• Willingness to visit customer sites
