Location: Peterborough/Hybrid

@one Alliance is a collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO. We deliver over half of Anglian Water's capital investment program.

With AMP8 ahead, we're preparing for a significant challenge—delivering projects that will shape water infrastructure's future.

We seek a driven and experienced Project Design Manager to lead our Water Infrastructure (WI) team and contribute to delivering industry-leading solutions!

What you'll be doing

As a Project Design Manager (WI), you'll lead a team of engineering experts to deliver diverse clean water infrastructure projects. You'll focus on design management, innovation, and project execution, ensuring value-driven, sustainable solutions align with Anglian Water's goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engineering Leadership: Oversee engineering design delivery for WNI projects.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop engineering project plans covering scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resources.
  • Design Excellence: Implement best-practice design methodologies for high-quality, right-first-time outputs.
  • Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement: Manage supplier/subcontractor input, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Project Optimisation: Identify and implement opportunities for cost-efficiency, value, and sustainability.
  • Carbon & Environmental Responsibility: Promote low-carbon, nature-based, and sustainable design solutions.
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations and safety standards.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Inspire, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Process).
  • Digital Transformation: Drive innovation, digitalisation, and continuous improvement in project delivery.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with extensive water-sector project experience.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering design teams and deliver complex projects.
  • Familiarity with water and/or foul networks and pipeline design.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Solution-focused, collaborative problem solver.
  • Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and drive customer satisfaction.
