Project Design Manager – Social Housing (Mechanical Heating Systems)

Location: Leatherhead

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000

I am looking for an experienced Project Design Manager to join a leading contractor delivering district heating and hot water system replacement projects within social housing and public buildings. This role is responsible for the tendering, design, and management of heating system projects, ensuring compliance with M&E legislation and statutory regulations.

If you have a strong technical background in mechanical heating systems, an understanding of contract specifications, and experience managing design and procurement processes, I would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and tendering process for mechanical heating projects.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, health & safety standards, and statutory requirements.
• Manage or oversee design calculations and ensure approval from relevant stakeholders.
• Work closely with project managers, site teams, and consultants to resolve design queries.
• Assist with technical issues, procurement decisions, and contract compliance.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to deliver efficient and cost-effective heating solutions.

About You:

• Proven experience in mechanical design and project management within social housing, M&E contracting, or building services.
• Strong knowledge of heating and hot water system design principles.
• Experience with tender preparation, cost estimation, and compliance management.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Relevant degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
• Full UK driving licence.
