Job Title: Project Engineer

About the business

I'm delighted to be supporting a long-standing, returning client - a UK designer-manufacturer of industrial firefighting equipment and integrated suppression systems used across oil & gas, chemical, marine and heavy manufacturing. They're known for robust engineering, uncompromising safety standards and a supportive culture where people stay and grow.

The role

You'll manage the technical delivery of firefighting/suppression system projects from concept to handover, ensuring compliance with standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering design for water-based and foam deluge systems and packaged skids.
  • Create 3D models of equipment and skid packages (Inventor or similar).
  • Produce and maintain P&IDs, specifications, BoMs, manuals and procedures.
  • Run risk assessments; ensure designs meet NFPA and UL/FM requirements.
  • Plan and track timelines, budgets and deliverables with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Support installation, commissioning, site visits and troubleshooting.
  • Keep project records accurate for internal and regulatory review; drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Protection Engineering (or related).
  • 3+ years in industrial equipment or fire protection/suppression engineering.
  • Proficient in CAD (Inventor preferred; AutoCAD beneficial) and analysis tools.
  • Clear communicator with solid project management skills; occasional travel as needed.
Nice to have
  • Hydraulic modelling (e.g. PipeFlow, SprinkCAD).
  • Awareness of hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx).
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and suppression technologies.
