Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review contract documents and identify discrepancies.
  • Produce detailed fabrication and machining drawings.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and inspect finished products.

Mechanical Project & Design Engineer

Days (Monday-Friday, 36.5 hours)

£42,500

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Project & Design Engineer to join a market leader in their respective industry. The position will appeal to a strong Engineer looking for their next challenging role within a secure and stable company, with lots of opportunities for progression in the future.

The successful candidate will combine creating and reviewing designs, coordinating with clients and internal teams, and overseeing manufacturing and quality assurance processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review contract documents to identify discrepancies with specifications, drawings, and surveys.
  • Visit construction sites to survey door openings and surrounding structures.
  • Interpret client drawings and create General Arrangement drawings with connection details.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to review and submit design intent to the client.
  • Coordinate with the client's engineering team or architect to gain drawing approval.
  • Ensure designs are suitable for manufacture and installation.
  • Produce detailed fabrication and machining drawings, including welding specifications.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations.
  • Inspect finished doors to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Provide installation instructions to the installation team.
  • Contribute to effective teamwork and uphold quality standards in customer interactions.
  • Suggest improvements and support continuous development.
Key Skills
  • Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering; or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • General working knowledge of the engineering industry and designing products into buildings. Skills in AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Inventor 3D, SolidWorks
  • FEA experience
