Newark and Sherwood District Council is seeking a skilled Project Delivery Manager to lead the Newark Castle Gatehouse Project, a multi-funded heritage regeneration programme transforming Newark Castle and Gardens into a distinctive visitor destination.

You will coordinate interpretation, exhibition fit-out and visitor engagement, oversee budgets, risks and procurement, and report to funders and governance boards to ensure on-time delivery and funding compliance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering complex capital, heritage, cultural or visitor attraction projects with multiple partners and funding streams.
• Confident managing consultants and contractors, controlling budgets and risks, interpreting technical information and presenting clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Understands inclusive engagement, evaluation and audience development in creating a sustainable and welcoming heritage attraction.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project programmes, budgets, risks, procurement and reporting to ensure activity meets quality, timescale and funding conditions.
• Lead planning and integration of the EMCCA-funded second phase, including improvements to underground spaces, visitor access and site infrastructure.
• Manage delivery of the National Lottery Heritage Fund Activity Plan and Business Plan, monitor outcomes and prepare reports and grant claims for funders and governance boards.

Project Delivery Manager – Newark Castle Gatehouse Project

12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension subject to project requirements and continued funding

Full time 37 hours per week

Salary NS12 £43,149 – £45,529 per annum

We are seeking an experienced and motivated client-side Project Delivery Manager to lead the next stage of the Newark Castle Gatehouse Project, a complex, multi-funded heritage regeneration programme that is transforming Newark Castle and Gardens into a distinctive and accessible visitor destination.

Working with colleagues, funders, professional consultants, contractors, elected members, community groups and heritage partners, you will coordinate the successful delivery of the project’s interpretation, exhibition fit-out and visitor engagement programme. You will oversee project programmes, budgets, risks, procurement and reporting, ensuring that activity is delivered to the required quality, timescale and funding conditions.

You will lead the planning and integration of the EMCCA-funded second phase, including improvements to the Castle’s underground spaces, visitor access, interpretation and wider site infrastructure. You will also manage delivery of the National Lottery Heritage Fund Activity Plan and Business Plan, monitor agreed outcomes and evaluation measures, and prepare clear reports, grant claims and supporting evidence for funders, senior officers, elected members and project governance boards.
