Job Description:

Location: Remote requiring extensive travel across the UK

Reports to: Technical Product Specialist

Employment Type: Full Time, Temporary (Fixed Term Contract)

Role Purpose

To support delivery of the PSTN and PDQ migration programme across UK & NI retail Partner Stores. This is a remote role requiring extensive travel within the UK. Applicant will need access to own vehicle for which mileage expenses can be claimed.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Assist with store IT provisioning.
  2. Install patch leads as required.
  3. Install and setup ISP supplied router.
  4. Install unmanaged network switch (connect cables between switch and peripherals).
  5. Install of card machine (PDQ) and associated connections.
  6. Install (plug-in) self-configured IP hard phone.
  7. Attend weekly progress calls and highlight any issues/concerns back into the business.
  8. Support and imbed any other facilities related activities as required by the business.
  9. Provide solutions to any challenges that may arise in respect to a related task.
  10. Manage Travel expenses in line with Company policy, including milage, overnight accommodation and flights (where applicable).

Key Relationships

Establish and maintain effective relationships with all functions supporting the Geographic Trading Area to ensure efficient and cohesive ways of working. These include but not limited to:

• Internal Operations

Experience & Skills

  1. Working with telecoms 1308 copper cabling and DP’s.
  2. Working with Cat5 structured cabling and patching.
  3. Knowledge of SOGEA and FTTP circuits and their termination.
  4. Knowledge of a basic internet router installation and configuration.
  5. Knowledge of basic Voice Over IP telephone connectivity.
  6. Able to test internet connectivity via an ISP network router.
  7. General understanding of card payment machine connectivity (PDQ’s).
  8. A understanding of business practices, products and services.
  9. An excellent understanding of business policies, procedures and processes.
  10. Demonstrated overall operational excellence including administration, attention to detail and management of a multitude of tasks.
  11. Project management experience would be an advantage.
