Job description

Role: Project Delivery - Design
Location: Remote (ad-hoc travel to Scotstoun)
Contract Type: 12-Month Contingent Contract
Security Clearance: BPSS + SC (in progress)
Working Hours: 37 hours/week
Hourly Rate: £41.95 PAYE or £56.55 Umbrella (NSIDE IR35)

About the Role
BAE Systems – Naval Ships is hiring a Project Delivery - Design to support the delivery of engineering work packages for the CSC Programme. Reporting to Senior Engineering Manager, this is a fully remote, consultancy-style delivery role — focused on influencing, problem-solving, and driving outcomes without line management responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Engineering Manager and wider IPT teams to identify and resolve delivery bottlenecks.
  • Analyse data and performance metrics to forecast future delivery risks and issues.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and pull cross-functional teams together to resolve complex challenges.
  • Influence line managers and delivery leads to drive timely engineering progress.
  • Provide consulting-level input based on a strong engineering and technical delivery background.
  • Support and maintain alignment across Stage 1 and Stage 2 engineering zones.
  • Lead engineering assurance activities without hands-on design review responsibilities.
  • Produce and present clear technical reports and stakeholder presentations.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong technical and engineering background (degree qualified).
  • Prior experience in shipbuilding, maritime, or complex defence engineering programmes.
  • Lifecycle or project delivery experience across complex programmes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Presentation and reporting capability, both written and verbal.
