Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

We are seeking a Project D&V Material Controller to work out of our Depot in Brighton. The successful candidate will oversee the management of materials related to Damage and Vandalism (D&V), ensuring that our material supply obligations are met effectively.

Your Future Role

Alstom UK is embarking on a significant growth journey, set to transform the UK rail industry for years to come. As part of this expansion, we’re strengthening our Supply Chain team and looking for passionate individuals who want to be part of something game-changing.

We'll Look to You To:

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Damage and Vandalism (D&V) Materials Controller and ensure effective communication with the depot team, internal and external suppliers, and customers.
  • Maintain a professional demeanour that underscores a commitment to quality, continuous improvement, diversity, and respect for individuals.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality and safety requirements established in company and project manuals.
  • Implement effective materials management to mitigate Undelivered Material Damages (UMD) and maintain stock availability to minimise the potential for liquidated damages.
  • Conduct regular reviews of material classifications and manage inventory levels to effectively meet stock demands.
  • Coordinate material ordering and reordering based on specified processes for both product and Non-Product Related materials.
  • Process stock in line with relevant quality and environmental standards, addressing any issues related to rejections or nonconformities.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure stock discrepancies are investigated and resolved, while documenting findings and actions.
  • Manage all SAP processes associated with materials and provide daily updates to the Materials Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Order consumables, oils, and greases as needed, maintaining the Inventory Management Tool (IMT).
  • Represent the materials function in project governance processes, addressing customer queries and maintaining the weekly operations board, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Support financial control measures by identifying risks and opportunities, ensuring that necessary actions are taken to manage costs effectively.

  • Understanding of costing, inventory planning processes, and risk management practices.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with the concepts of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Just-In-Time (JIT) techniques.
