Job summary

Balfour Beatty VINCI is hiring a Cost Controller for our Birmingham operation. You will manage budgeting, forecasting, cost validation and month-end close across multiple work areas on a major infrastructure program.

This role suits a self-motivated professional with strong cost accounting and Excel skills, capable of coordinating with finance, commercial and site teams. The position is predominantly site-office based with potential travel across sites; flexible working options are available to

Qualifications

• Proven relevant experience in contracting/project environments.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
• Part-qualified/qualified accountant desirable.
• Willing to travel across sites; predominantly site‑office based.

Responsibilities

• Leads preparation of the budgets and forecasts for MEP/PST in collaboration with commercial, delivery and finance teams.
• Validates monthly subcontract liabilities against applications and ensures liabilities are recorded timely.
• Ensures data integrity in the accounting system and reconciles discrepancies with site teams.
• Verifies labour hours and costs against time-keeping records across work areas.
• Verifies and reconciles plant and machinery recharges with supporting backup files.
• Leads monthly financial close and rolling forecast across multiple work areas, with commercial support.
