Job summary

J C Bamford Excavators Ltd is recruiting a Project Coordinator within the Electrical & Compliance team to support delivery of engineering programmes across machine and technology projects.

You will own BOMs, coordinate procurement, compliance documentation and cost management, working with Electrical Engineers, Compliance Engineers, Project Managers, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams to keep activities on track and within budget.

About the role:

As a Project Coordinator within the Electrical & Compliance team, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of engineering projects across a range of machine and technology programmes. Working closely with Electrical Engineers, Compliance Engineers, Project Managers, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams, you will ensure that project activities, procurement requirements, compliance documentation and cost management activities are effectively coordinated and delivered on time.

A key aspect of this role is the ownership and maintenance of machine cost Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring accuracy, cost visibility and alignment with engineering changes throughout the project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced engineering environment and supporting the delivery of innovative products.

What does this roleinvolve day to day?

• Coordinating activities across multiple Electrical & Compliance projects and programmes.
• Maintaining project plans, action trackers, schedules and delivery milestones.
• Monitoring project progress and escalating risks, issues and potential delays where required.
• Organising project meetings, reviews and workshops, including agendas, minutes and action tracking.
• Owning and maintaining machine cost Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring data accuracy and alignment with engineering releases.
• Coordinating BOM updates with Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams.
• Tracking machine costs against agreed targets and budgets, producing regular cost and BOM reports.
• Assessing the cost impact of engineering and specification changes.
• Raising purchase requisitions and purchase orders to support engineering activities.
• Coordinating the procurement of electrical components, prototype parts, test equipment and compliance materials.
• Obtaining supplier quotations, lead times and delivery information.
• Monitoring supplier deliveries and proactively addressing supply issues.
• Supporting machine compliance, certification and validation activities through effective coordination and administration.
• Maintaining compliance documentation, engineering records and certification data.
• Coordinating testing schedules and supporting engineering change management processes.
• Managing project dashboards, KPI trackers, risk logs and issue logs.
• Supporting budget monitoring, expenditure tracking and continuous improvement initiatives.

This will be suited to you if…

• You have experience in project coordination, project support, engineering administration or a similar role.
• You are highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• You have experience raising purchase orders and managing procurement-related activities.
• You are confident managing large volumes of data, documentation and project information.
• You're proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• You have strong communication skills and can build effective relationships with stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and supplier networks.
• You enjoy analysing information, tracking progress and identifying potential risks before they become issues.
• You take ownership of your work and are comfortable managing responsibilities independently.
• You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy supporting teams to achieve shared objectives.
• You have experience within engineering, manufacturing, automotive or product development environments (desirable).
• You have knowledge of BOM management, ERP/MRP systems or product compliance and certification processes (desirable).
• You hold, or are working towards, a project management qualification such as APM PFQ or PRINCE2 Foundation (desirable).
• You are proactive, adaptable and committed to delivering high-quality work while continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
• This role would suit someone who enjoys bringing organisation and structure to complex engineering projects, ensuring teams have the information, materials and processes in place to deliver successful outcomes.
