Job summary

Newcastle University Advancement seeks a Projects Coordinator to support innovation, entrepreneurship and business connectivity from the alumni community. The role interfaces with internal and external partners to drive diverse projects and partnerships.

This fixed-term, 1-year position focuses on boosting entrepreneurial skills among students and graduates and contributing to regional economic growth through effective engagement and events.

  • Coordinate development of alumni networks aligned to start-ups and growth sectors (AI/data, health, energy, creative industries).
  • Coordinate events to disseminate Newcastle’s research to alumni, entrepreneurs and partners to raise visibility.
  • Coordinate networking events bringing together alumni, partners and business owners in the region.
  • Support international events showcasing university strengths and regional investment opportunities.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders with timely updates and responses.
  • Provide coordination and logistical support for Alumni Engagement activity.

The Role

Newcastle University Advancement (https://www.ncl.ac.uk/alumni/) is the driving force behind alumni engagement and partnerships across the University. We build lifelong relationships with alumni and supporters, create opportunities for students, and inspire partnership and investment.

About the role

This 1 year fixed term role sits at the interface of business, innovation and education. As Projects Coordinator you will play a key part in supporting wide range of activities relating to innovation, entrepreneurship, and business connectivity from the alumni community. This involves working with a range of internal and external partners and coordinating a variety of new and emerging projects.

This new role will be pivotal in helping boost entrepreneurial skills in the student and graduate population, contributing to the wider economic growth of the city and region.

About you

You will be comfortable working in an externally facing role and building strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be an excellent communicator and proactive in delivering exceptional service to external partners.

You will have experience of coordinating projects in a large and complex organisation and be comfortable juggling multiple priorities and delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines.

Experience in business engagement and/or event management would be desirable.

Key Accountabilities

Support with development and implementation of a wide range of activities relating to innovation, entrepreneurship, and business connectivity from the alumni community

Support initiatives that boost core entrepreneurial skills in the student and graduate population

Coordinate the development of a range of alumni networks aligned to business start-up and key growth sectors (AI/data, health, energy transitions, creative industries)

Coordinate events to support the dissemination of Newcastle’s research to external audiences (alumni, entrepreneurs and corporate partners) to boost visibility of key University strengths and create opportunities for knowledge exchange with key growth sectors

Coordinate networking events to bring together alumni, partners, supporters and business owners in the region

To support key international events that showcase the strengths and investment opportunities of the University and region

Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely updates and responses.

Provide coordination and logistical support for Alumni Engagement activity

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Experience of working in an externally-facing role

Experience in coordinating projects in a large and complex organisation

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

Experience of organising events

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
