Project Coordinator - Wastewater Surveillance for Pandemic Prevention (WaSPP)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Project Coordinator to join the Wastewater Surveillance for Pandemic Prevention (WaSPP) consortium, based within the Vaccine Epidemiology Research Group (VERG). This initiative aims to develop scalable, cost-effective tools for early detection and prevention of future pandemics, funded by the Gates Foundation and the Institute of Philanthropy. The consortium focuses on capacity-building, methodological development, and software innovation in collaboration with global partners.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to global health research with real-world impact. The role is suitable for a candidate with excellent organisational and communication skills.

You will provide operational and logistical support to ensure smooth consortium activities, working closely with the Senior Project Manager, VERG leadership, and international partners across Asia and Africa.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead operational and logistical arrangements for the WaSPP conference for around 150 attendees in the UK.
  2. Coordinate travel arrangements to partner sites, including handling expense claims in line with College policy.
  3. Maintain accurate records of all consortium activities.
  4. Support financial aspects of the Hub, including raising purchase orders, setting up suppliers, and collaborating with Imperial’s Joint Research Office for reporting.
  5. Assist in external communications, including updating the WaSPP website.
  6. Provide logistical support for other VERG-led activities.
  7. Possess at least A-Level education or equivalent professional experience.
  8. Experience working in large, complex organisations, especially in higher education.
  9. Proven administrative support experience for projects.
  10. Basic financial management skills, including processing invoices and expenses.
  11. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  12. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment on routine matters.
  13. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with professionalism.
  14. Experience organising external meetings and events.

Benefits include a sector-leading salary, 39 days’ annual leave, generous pension schemes, flexible working policy, family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities, cycle-to-work scheme, and interest-free season ticket loans.
