Job description

Are you a seasoned Project Controls professional with a passion for leading teams and a deep understanding of Primavera P6?

We're seeking an exceptional individual to manage our Project Controls team, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of all Engineering projects.

In this critical position, you'll be instrumental in establishing and maintaining robust project governance, encompassing everything from funding and change management to project gateway progression. Your expertise will guarantee accurate project representation through meticulous programme updates and the implementation of effective control measures.

Main responsibilities:

  • Set the standards for project controls in line with best practice and Engineering requirements.

  • Ensure best practice is adhered to by audits, performance management and training support for team members.

  • Ensure integration of project controls from inception (Assets) through delivery (Engineering) and the supply chain (framework contractors).

  • Ensure contract standards for project controls are set out to framework contractors and ensure contract administration (Via NEC) is followed to ensure compliance.

  • Ensure project team and project managers get maximum output from P6 via management reports with refined inputs (no wasted effort).

  • Take responsibility for the output of the project controls team, completing 121s, team briefs and ensure a motivated and inclusive approach.

  • Ensure final monthly reporting is completed on time each month ensuring the outputs from P6 are not erroneous to the inputs/ requested inputs.

  • Take an active lead in Health, Safety and Wellbeing visiting site and completing a safety observation and supporting safe sites.

  • Take an active role in making sure value management assessments, change control system compliance and include for risk values are covered within the project controls team and monthly reporting.

  • Lead on projects controls improvement and innovation making sure we never stand still and change with the times and associated systems and technology.

You'll need:
Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • P6 primavera formal training to advanced level.

  • Civil Engineering degree or Quantity Surveying degree.

  • Excellent team management skills.

  • Excellent report writing and editorial skills, and good oral communication.

  • Significant demonstrable experience in project controls/ project delivery in the construction industry.

  • Have a good understanding of Change Management, Earned Value & VOWD

  • Understanding of the Health and Safety regulations that affect their area of work

  • Relevant construction experience on major multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects

  • Delivery focussed with a good team ethic and organisational skills.

It will be a bonus if you have:
Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • Team Management or Project Management training/qualificaiton.

  • Further advanced experience in project controls/ project delivery in the construction industry with track record of leading project controls teams.
