The project controls lead will work within the programme management office (PMO) on behalf of the programme partner (PrP), liaising with a variety of stakeholders across the programme, reporting to the Head of PMO. This role will require a person who can get SC clearance. This role will require 2 days per week based in Newbury, Berkshire.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the prioritisation and delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Providing oversight of key PMO tasks / exercises.
  • Co-ordinating and driving cross discipline integration in support of baseline management and reporting.
  • Unlocking cross partnership integration ensuring consistency of approach.
  • Deputing for PMO lead as and when required.
  • Providing line management and guidance to PMO baseline manager and other disciplines within the PMO.
  • Supporting resourcing activities when required.
  • Supporting operational aspects of the PRP PMO.

You’ll need to have:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present information and communicate to individuals at all levels of an organisation.
  • Outstanding organisational skills, capable of managing multiple activities and timelines.
  • Working knowledge of project controls methods, techniques and tools that would support baseline management and earned value.
  • Able to interface with multidisciplinary teams and take lead role in creating plan for a plan and driving exercises through to completion.
  • Focus on attention to details and checking project controls inputs, recording and reports produced.
  • Experience working in a fast-moving project environment essential.
  • Qualifications (MSP or APMG – practitioner) or related experience in project controls for example, trend and change management, earned value management or scope management.
  • Experience working on large infrastructure project or programmes.
  • Experience of nuclear or high security sectors desirable.
