Job description

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is looking for a Mid-level Project Controls Engineer, proficient in both schedule and cost, to support the Nuclear Sciences & Technology Business Unit. The position can be executed from any one of the following NST offices:

  • Los Alamos, NM
  • Albuquerque, NM
  • Greenwood Village, CO

Typical annual pay range for this position is $84,0000 - $110,000. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience


WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Project Controls Engineer will develop and maintain reports of hours, cost, earned value and revenue forecasts for several related time and materials projects. This person will assist the project manager in managing project cost including functions such as project setup, reporting, accruals, invoicing and closeout. As a Prject Controls Engineer you will be heavily involved in change management, both internally and with the client and will assist in subcontractor management and reporting including management of subcontract documents and reporting of subcontractor cost and schedule performance. This person must be able to work well independently, be self-motivated and be able to work in a team setting.

The Project Controls Engineer should have the ability and or interest to do the following:

  • Provide Project Controls services on assigned Project Teams, monitoring of planning, scheduling, cost engineering and trend engineering.
  • Communicate in a professional, calm and effective manner.
  • Use system data to prepare monthly hours, costs, earned value and revenue forecasts.
  • Have expert capability in Microsoft Excel with the ability to manipulate large and complex spreadsheets and advanced spreadsheet tools including macros and pivot tables.
  • Utilize cost data to allow for the tracking and control of budgets, commitments, accruals, expenditures and contingency for the duration of the project.
  • Identify project cost exposures and overrun risks in a timely manner to allow informed mitigation decisions and actions.
  • Interact directly with client while simultaneously supporting project management efforts.
  • Work closely with our project accounting team to provide invoices and invoice support.
  • Work closely with our accounts receivable and accounts payable teams to ensure timely submittals and payments.
  • Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Familiarity with unpopulated Joint Venture accounting systems and relationships is a plus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in the field of Project Controls (Planning & Scheduling/Cost Engineering/Estimating) or similar background.
  • Experience in the Engineering/Procurement/Construction field.
  • Candidate must be familiar with the concepts of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Familiarity in basic project control software applications, including Primavera (P6), Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Client projects for this position requires U.S. Citizenship.
