We are currently seeking an interim Project Construction Supervisor, to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £50,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

Please note: Due to the urgency of the role, we are unable to accept notice periods longer than 2 weeks

Main Job Purpose

The successful applicant will work on a major project focusing on the erection of a new warehouse building. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the project and contractor teams are working to the highest construction safety standards whilst adhering to existing systems and processes. The role will play a key part in developing a detailed network, tracking progress with all key suppliers and ensuring project updates are sent out to the correct standard. The role will report to the overall project lead and support him in day-to-day management of the construction

Key accountabilities

  • Support in contractor management ensuring work is completed to the correct construction standards in line with the specifications.
  • Ensure all safety standards and procedures are understood and followed in all areas. This will involve the use of auditing tools and following the correct reporting process for unsafe acts and conditions that have been identified.
  • Complete regular safety conversations on the ground, following up on actions to ensure robust close out.
  • Manage the project network ensuring the project remains on track with any slippage or risks reported efficiently.
  • Communicate site works with Operational Team on regular basis, attend daily and weekly update meetings as required
  • Support in safety investigations ensuring all learnings are cascaded correctly to the site teams.
  • Hold all personnel (Unilever and contractors) accountable to following the correct safety standards and policies across the site.
  • Create effective project stakeholder updates working with the site construction project leader.
  • Track contractor hours and report using digital safety portal.
  • Experience of large-scale building/warehouse construction with a clear understanding of the required building standards (groundworks, foundations, steelwork etc).
  • Experience of being involved in large projects involving high risk activities and actively driving safety standards in the area.
  • Experience in Inspections and Audits and Managing non-conformance.
  • Project network creation and tracking- Microsoft project preferred.
