Job Description

It is the role of the Project Buyer to work with their teams to ensure all parts and services are procured using the company procedures, while adhering to the latest legal requirements and continually seeking the best contractual terms.

To provide purchasing support to the business and engineering project teams supporting internal, research and development, prototype, and production customer programmes.

To ensure the correct suppliers are selected to support project requirements, purchase orders are released in a timely and controlled manner, and change management is maintained.

While carrying out this role, the candidate should always look for ways to continually develop processes within the department.

Duties

1. Liaise with SQE to ensure any issues are documented and resolved efficiently.
2. Ensure parts are delivered on time and to specification to minimize business risk.
3. Ability to balance varied workload.
4. Support vendor onboarding to MAHLE processes.
5. Help develop the supply chain as we diversify from traditional ICE units to support a wide range of powertrain technologies.
6. Build relationships with suppliers to ensure the balance of cost, lead time, and quality matches project requirements, with the opportunity to take ownership from sourcing through to delivery.
7. Work closely with the engineering team and other internal stakeholders to support various projects at MPT Northampton.
8. Execute procurement activities in compliance with MAHLE processes, ensuring project deliverables are met in a timely manner.

Skills and Experience

• Proficient IT skills, particularly in MS Office, are essential.
• Working knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Knowledge of Windchill or similar PDM/PLM systems is desirable.
• General understanding of markets, products, and commodities.
• Proven track record in purchasing.
• Good contract law knowledge is desirable.
