The company is a leading manufacturer of products and solutions for the security/defence industry.
The business is seeking to recruit a Buyer for their operations.
The main responsibility for the role is to manage the procurement of parts, materials, components, and engineered parts to ensure smooth supply to the manufacturing/production function, allowing for continued optimal production of finished parts to customer schedules.
Responsibilities
As a Buyer, the duties are as follows:
- Establish new relationships with suppliers and build on existing supplier relationships.
- Ensure suppliers meet delivery and quality targets whilst driving cost savings and identifying improvements.
- Negotiate favourable terms with new and existing suppliers on pricing, lead times, etc.
- Process all purchase orders and expedite deliveries.
- Ensure all contracts and supplier agreements are adhered to in the procurement chain.
- Drive continuous improvement in processes and workflows.
- Ensure the timely supply of materials to schedules.
- Identify team training needs and carry out first line HR duties.
Key Skills
Key skills for this role are as follows:
- Previous experience within a procurement/buyer position within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with procurement software and tools.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Excellent communication skills and able to do so effectively at all levels.
- Good organisation, able to multi-task, and meet deadlines.
Shift: Days position (8am - 4.35pm Monday to Thursday & 8am - 3.10pm Friday)
Salary: Up to 38k per annum.

The role is based in the Coventry area, so is commutable from Nuneaton, Bedworth, Kenilworth, Solihull, Birmingham, Rugby, and Hinckley.
