Project Architect
Award-Winning RIBA Chartered Practice - North Leeds (LS17)

We are seeking an experienced Project Architect to join our prestigious, award-winning RIBA Chartered architectural practice, based in a picturesque semi-rural location on the outskirts of North Leeds. Our medium-sized, well-established practice is known for its exceptional design quality across a diverse range of high-end residential projects, including bespoke contemporary new builds, luxury private homes, and sophisticated renovations and restorations.

About the Role

As a Project Architect, you will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of a variety of exciting and prestigious residential projects throughout Yorkshire and the North East of England. This includes working on bespoke, contemporary designs with a focus on high-value properties, some of which are valued in the millions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex projects, overseeing all stages of design, and maintaining the highest standards of technical quality and client satisfaction.

You will be responsible for managing your own projects, guiding them through all RIBA work stages, and collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure seamless project delivery. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and support junior staff, helping to nurture their growth while advancing your own career within a forward-thinking, creative practice.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage a variety of residential projects from stage 2 onward, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest design and technical standards.
  2. Take ownership of projects from concept design through to project completion, ensuring all stages are managed effectively.
  3. Develop and present design proposals to clients, providing strategic advice and ensuring design intent is maintained throughout the process.
  4. Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external consultants to achieve successful project outcomes.
  5. Oversee the preparation of detailed technical drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations and all relevant standards.
  6. Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members, helping them to develop their skills and grow within the practice.
  7. Manage project budgets and resources, ensuring efficient and cost-effective project delivery.
Skills & Experience
  1. A fully qualified Architect (RIBA/ARB registered) with a minimum of 3-5 years experience within a practice environment.
  2. Proven experience managing high-end residential projects, including new builds, extensions, and complex renovations.
  3. In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations, construction detailing, and project delivery processes.
  4. Strong technical skills, with the ability to create and manage high-quality technical drawings and specifications.
  5. Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); experience with SketchUp is highly desirable.
  6. Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  7. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail and quality.
  9. Experience in running a project from inception to completion, with a focus on delivering projects within budget and on time.
Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary, negotiable based on experience, in the range of £37,500 to £42,500
Comprehensive benefits package, including workplace pension, 25 days annual leave, flexible working hours, and the option to work from home one day per week.
