Job description

We are looking to recruit a Project and Business Development Officer to join our busy Economy and Regeneration Service. This is an exciting role within the service, providing an opportunity to be part of the team delivering the Ceredigion Economic Strategy 2020-2035 to enable and provide opportunities for people and enterprises to thrive and grow in Ceredigion.

The main focus of the role is to manage and deliver the Placemaking Transforming Towns Programme in Ceredigion. If you have experience in regeneration, project management, planning, economic and business development, or community work, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

You will play a central role in motivating Ceredigion's communities and businesses, developing knowledge and skills, fostering innovation, and overcoming local challenges. The tasks and workload are dynamic, requiring innovative thinking and positive responses to challenges. This is your chance to help shape the future of our county, supporting communities to become thriving, people-centered, and resilient.

You will need a prominent local profile to motivate and foster positive relations with the community, supporting places that meet their needs and aspirations. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  1. Coordinating, facilitating, and managing the delivery of the Placemaking Transforming Town Fund to support and regenerate Ceredigion's town centers.
  2. Facilitating engagement, involvement, and mentoring of community, public, and private sector organizations to develop their activities.
  3. Working with local organizations and businesses to access funding opportunities suitable to their needs.
  4. Developing and implementing monitoring systems to ensure compliance with funding scheme requirements.
  5. Supporting economic growth and regeneration through various initiatives, including regional development, funding, tourism, and agricultural development.
  6. Supporting growth through planning, building control, land use planning, and property services, including project management, property maintenance, facilities management, and carbon management.
  7. Engaging with the community and fostering collaborative opportunities through partnership working.
  8. Possessing excellent interpersonal, communication, mentoring, and advocacy skills, with the ability to work proactively and flexibly.
