Project Administrator - Simpler Recycling. 1 Year Fixed Term Contract.

Directorate: Service Delivery | Vacancy type: Temporary part-time | Salary: £29,651 - £31,482 | Closing date: 04 June 2025

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, working either 3 full days or across 3, 4, or 5 part-time days.

Location: This role offers remote and flexible working, as well as work within the Council Offices, subject to business need.

A full, clean driving license is required, as there is a need to drive either a personal vehicle or a Council Van to attend meetings.

Occasional attendance at meetings and events outside normal office hours across the district may be required.

Role Description

Reporting to the Waste and Commissioning & Contracts Manager, this role provides project administration support for the implementation of Simpler Recycling across the District.

The role involves working with internal and external partners to coordinate and deliver the recycling initiative, encouraging householders to comply with requirements, promoting behavior change, and reducing unnecessary resource waste.

About this role

As the Project Administrator, you will play a vital role in the Environmental Health, Waste and Climate Action team, supporting the Council’s adoption of new waste legislation.

Your responsibilities include managing and promoting the recycling program, developing partnerships with contractors, residents, and stakeholders, and ensuring records and deadlines are maintained and met.

You should have strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including Councillors. Excellent spoken English and the ability to engage with the public are essential.

You will guide external stakeholders, including housing management companies and residents, on recycling principles, resource preservation, and waste reduction.

Additional duties include ensuring residents in flats have the necessary resources, supporting residents with recycling advice, liaising with contractors, conducting participation surveys, site visits, maintaining project documentation, attending meetings, and managing enquiries confidentially.
