Job description

CY is working with a well-established and growing company seeking a proactive and commercially minded Project Accountant to join its finance team. This is a newly created, hands-on, and varied role offering the opportunity to add real value in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.

As a Project Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are financially sound, providing insightful analysis, and working closely with operational and senior leadership teams. The ideal candidate will be confident managing project finances end-to-end and able to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure all project income and costs are accurately captured, monitored, and reported.
• Provide analysis on customer profitability, project margins, and cost drivers.
• Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to identify and implement cost efficiencies.
• Support budget planning and forecasting activities.
• Provide financial input to challenge and support operational decision-making.
• Monitor contract cash flow, margin performance, and warranty claims.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes, including audit preparation.
• Maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting and accuracy.
• Adhere to relevant export control and national security standards.

Skills and experience required:

• Recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW), Part Qualified, or relevant experience.
• Previous experience in a project-based finance role.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a small, agile team and across multiple departments.
• High level of integrity, initiative, and resilience.
• Proficient with financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
